YOUR NEW HOT WATER SOLUTION

Aus J Hot Water Solutions’ Duoetto MK2 12V/240V 10L hot water heater is a clean and green heater for 4WD, camping and boating enthusiasts. The machine emits no carbon monoxide or other hazardous and flammable gases in confined spaces and cuts fossil fuels in pristine places.

More travellers are becoming concerned about the hazards of different types of heaters posed for children, animals and the remote area travellers themselves, especially as COVID-19 has created an influx of local travel. The Australian-designed, compact and durable water heater offers selectable temperatures between 30-75 degrees on 24V so 4WDers and campers can shower, wash, clean and enjoy abundant hot water whether mains power is available or not, without them having to store and carry additional fossil fuels.

Automatic sensors allow for switching to 12V when mains power is not available, enabling the Duoetto to deliver hot water in remote locations such as at campsites or on boats. The Duoetto MK2 features a single weld line tank for study construction, reduced water leakage and extended product life, an environmentally harmonious CFC-free polyurethane insulation to maintain temperatures and reduce energy consumption and SPCC steel and enamel tank for improved corrosion resistance, along with a 12 month warranty.

CAMPFIRE COOKING

Stuck for ideas about what to cook on your next trip through the country? Look no further as Viv Moon has combined her two previous cookbooks into an all-inclusive and expanded guide to cooking while travelling. Outdoor and Travellers’ Cookbook contains 513 recipes and is only available in ebook form, meaning there’s no extra weight to carry on your journey.

The cookbook is written specifically to help travellers to get the most out of cooking while away, whether they are 4WD touring, camping, caravanning or simply holidaying, or even at home. The recipes inside are easy, simple and delicious, using readily available ingredients wherever you will be travelling and have been selected to suit cooking in a wide variety or circumstances. Travellers will learn how to use a camp oven to make bread, scones and roasts as well as learn the skills needed to cook over an open fire, their gas stove, a barbecue or in their caravan’s kitchen.

With her husband, Ron, the couple has spent most of their lives exploring and writing about Australia’s wild and remote areas, with Viv commencing her first cooking column over 35 years ago. Since then, Viv has been called upon to cater and cook on a number of large 4WD expeditions and for TV documentary shoots in remote areas, with her cooking and skills honed on those trips. Her recipes and cooking prowess are highly regarded by many, far and wide.

NO SUBSTITUTE FOR QUALITY

SEEKR by Caframos’s Sirocco IITM provides travellers a low power draw and quietly operated fan that comes in a durable yet stylish design. Developed from more than 60 years of fan manufacturing experience, the Sirocco II provides refreshing air movement and reliability for your long rides through the hot months.

The air from internal vehicle air conditioners often struggles to flow through the confined interior, which is where the 360 degree directional airflow of the Sirocco II comes in handy. An added bonus is that when not in use, the fan does not take up much room as it can be folded flat. With three fan speeds and four timer settings, three, six, nine and 12 hours, this fan would come in handy on your next long haul trip. The black and white coloured options also can be chosen to suit your rig’s interior.

The Canadian made Sirocco II has a commercial grade motor rated for 5,000 hours, yet only draws between 0.06 to 0.35 amps, depending on the speed you have set. Installation is easy, with all necessary hardware and wiring provided, and it can run on 12V or 24V DC power, depending which it automatically senses. Weighing at 1.2kg, the fan’s small size means it can be mounted in a wide range of locations. For ease of mind, the Sirocco II also comes with a two year warranty.

ORGANISE YOUR NEXT TRIP

Australian company, HPP Lunds has introduced nine new storage boxes to its Gear-X range, perfect for caravanners, campers, offroaders, travellers, hobbyists and households.

Two of the baskets, available in black and blue, and fluorescent green and black, are perfect for travel in caravans or for camping, as, with a 35-litre capacity (365 x 490 x 247mm), they store flat and can be quickly and easily raised into full-sized storage units. While they have no lids, when upright, they have solid side panels so items cannot fall out, and they have side and a top handle for ease of carrying.

The other boxes include two larger 65-litre and 105-litre solid black storage boxes, as well as five smaller storage boxes. Three of these smaller ones have adjustable compartments, each with a tab lock clear lid and carry handle, while the other two have non-adjustable compartments, perfect for storing loose items, such as condiments or toppings for cooking, nails and screws for handiwork around the caravan or buttons and thread for hobbyists.

Travellers are always after more storage while away, so Gear X’s new range is a practical addition for your next getaway.
