Federal Investment to Boost RV-Led Recovery

Aussie tourism operators welcomed the announcement late last month of a $250 million regional Australia package, with $150 million of that set aside for regional tourism and infrastructure projects.

Caravan and camping tourists spend over $10 billion in rural Australia in a typical year, representing a vital part of many regions’ economies, but a difficult year of bushfires and COVID-19 shutdowns has left many regions in dire straits. This funding package aims to help communities begin to recover, and to prepare the road for an expected surge in travellers as lockdowns and border restrictions across the country continue to ease.

Sanctuary Cove Boating Festival

Boaties rejoice, the crew from Sanctuary Cove have announced their Boating Festival, which will take place from November 13-15. While the festival isn't on the same scale as their annual Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show, which was cancelled in May, it still promises to be this year's biggest marine industry event.

The newly built marina expansion will host Australia's eminent luxury yacht marques, while the marine village will be buzzing with trailerboats and lifestyle brands.

Entry is free, just head to sanctuarycoveboatshow.com.au to register your attendance.

Million Dollar Fish

The annual Million Dollar Fish competition is on again, and this time there are seven million-dollar-prize-fish out there waiting to be reeled in, as well as more than 100 minor-prize tagged fish. The lucky barramundi have been tagged and released at five of the Northern Territories main fishing regions: Darwin, Kakadu, Arnhem Land, Katherine and Tiwi.

The competition runs from now until March 31, 2021, giving you plenty of time to plan your trip to the Top End. Head to milliondollarfish.com.au for more info.

The Great Outdoor and 4x4 Expo

Until recently it looked like the Gippsland Great Outdoor and 4x4 Expo would go ahead as scheduled during November, but now it appears to have been cancelled.

With a little luck, the Shepparton Great Outdoor and 4x4 Expo show will still run from December 4-6, keep an eye on greatoutdoorexpos.com.au for up to date info.
